Zagreb bookfair / Zagrebački anarhistički sajam knjiga fair is based on the ideals of anti-authoritarianism, anti-fascism, anti-capitalism and other anarchist principles. We hope that this fair, like other anarchist fairs, will serve as a platform for getting to know each other, networking, distributing materials and sharing experiences in a common struggle. The fair is horizontally organized according to libertarian principles, and therefore financed on the basis of donations and benefits.
Our idea is to question the roots and practices of the theory of social and economic organization, science and philosophy (where it comes from, what’s it made of, and what do we choose to take from it) according to anarchist principles. Let us extend the struggle against all systems of domination from the fair to the streets, to the workplaces, to apartments and houses, to schools and hospitals!
Anarchism for us is about learning and unlearning the patterns embedded in our bodies, thoughts, and lives. This requires a collective effort; listening to new generations and openness towards new experiences.
Mutual communication and the exchange of knowledge is where we can together create a world that truly respects everyone’s experience. And for that, it is necessary to reflect within ourselves and the community.
We are still learning and we aren’t great at everything, but we are here to recognise.
To unlock anti-colonialism together in our community, from Rojava, Sudan, Palestine and many more.
Anti-capitalism – to pull it out by the roots and nurture the soil that’s infected.
To lease and step outside the boxes of neurotypicality and xy chromosomes.
To understand how we’re centering European white anarchism, where we have a lot of work to do together to move away from that centralisation.
To raise awareness of comrades on the move and the horiffic laws that force many people to flee and cross fascist borders, taking into account that we are not all in the same life situations and how we relate to those situations within our organisational and comrade movements.
To raise awareness of ableism, where we have a lot to learn, from the words we say to our thoughts and actions.
We look forward to building a world together that is free of cis normative and hierarchical needs.
A safe space to learn, and when we make mistakes, to have the strength to learn from them.
Love and rage,
